The Minerval degree is designed to allow the aspirant to decide whether or not to pursue full membership, and to allow potential sponsors the opportunity to decide whether to support the aspirant's application for full membership.

Although the member may leave the OTO at any time, I° creates a permanent spiritual link between the individual and the order for the current incarnation and should be undertaken after careful reflection.

Initiation is available to every man and woman who is free, at least 18 years of age, and of "good report". For a Minerval candidate to be of good report you must obtain two sponsors who are of good report, dues current, and at least a first degree. A Minerval application, accompanied with the associated fees and dues, must then be submitted to the AHBH Body Master. Current initiation fees for the Minerval degree are $93. $36 of this goes to USGL for one year’s annual dues and the remainder is used to cover initiation expenses.
